Hawkings Field in Calgary Alberta was the location to the 2009 edition of the Senior National Championships. A 35 match schedule was played out by elite teams from Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, and Prince Edward Island.

The ten team womens tournament started on Wednesday, July 22 with Alberta South facing U18 British Columbia. In the gold medal game it was BC Blue defeating Ontario Red 2-1 to capture the province's second consecutive medal.

The 4 Team mens side started earlier on Tuesday July 21, to allow Team Canada players to travel to Australia. In the end it was Ontario who took top spot in stunning fashion with a 3-2 comeback victory over BC Blue. The Ontarians scored two goals in the final two minutes of the game to win their first gold medal since 2007. On an interesting note the game was the only match of this year’s men’s tournament where no cards were given.
